Get Cyber Safe (GCS) was a national public awareness campaign created to inform Canadians about cyber security and the simple steps they can take to protect themselves online. Banfield led this campaign between 2020 and 2026 in branding, organic digital campaigns (for holidays, tax season, and annual Cyber Month campaigns), social media content, and various marketing assets including infographics, blogs, web content, and more.

Campaign: Making cyber security part of Canadian’s holiday traditions

The creative challenge

Canadians are more connected online than ever – which makes them more susceptible to online threats. This is especially true over the holidays, when people are more likely to visit family members, connect to unfamiliar Wi-Fi networks, get new devices, and buy gifts online. Get Cyber Safe needed to come up with a solution to remind people of cyber safety during a time when they are too busy to remember to be cyber secure.

The solution

We created a campaign that integrated cyber security into people’s holiday traditions to keep it top of mind. This came to life through non-traditional and playful media like cyber safe holiday carols, wrapping paper with tips printed on the inside, and a gingerbread home-network that you could build from any gingerbread house.

The outcome

  • 6M impressions through earned television and radio appearances
  • 67% impression increase on social media during the month of December
  • 30% engagement increase during the month of December

Campaign: Securing tomorrow’s problems today (Cyber Month 2025)

Getting cyber safe for future you.

The creative challenge

Cyber Security Awareness Month (Cyber Month) is an internationally recognized campaign held each October to help the public learn more about the importance of cyber security. The campaign helps Canadians stay secure online by teaching them simple steps to protect themselves and their devices. For this year's campaign, we wanted to help Canadians understand the benefits of getting cyber safe today to secure their future.

The solution

Often, the benefits of being cyber safe aren’t obvious the moment you act. It’s only later that you realize how important it was that you took that action. To get Canadians to consider the benefits of being cyber secure, we highlighted some of the unexpected impacts it can have – from being prepared for a big presentation to getting tickets to a band you’ve been dying to see. Because a few simple steps taken today means tomorrow’s problems can be solved before they even happen. This came to life through multiple organic executions including a social media campaign, an original song, and various marketing materials including infographics, partner toolkits, and blogs.
